Greg Winters called a meeting of the board and officers before the regular meeting to discuss various issues about the Mother’s Day weekend Flower Show and the upcoming bus trip to Oregon Gardens and other stop-offs. It appears it is going to be very difficult to put together a crew for a two day show at the Everett Mall. There are few from the membership who are willing to step forward and help the Chapter with its fund raising efforts. An alternative of a one-day display at Comford Park in Marysville was proposed. The Marysville Parks Department will be contacted to see if this is a definite possibility before taking any action with Everett Mall Bookings. The show at the Park may or may not include plant sales.
The Oregon bus trip will continue, as planned, even though there are only about 20 persons from the Chapter signed up. The bus holds about 42. It was proposed that a fee of $25 be charged each person wishing to go on the trip. Entrance fees to the Oregon Gardens and Motel charges will also be the responsibility of each person traveling. It is hoped we can fill the bus with members of other local Chapters.
The regular meeting was called to order after the officer’s meeting and the decisions regarding the Flower Show and bus trip were announced. The members accepted the $25/person fee and other expenses outlined by the board. The difficulties with manning a two day Flower Show were also reported. The members showed little response to the needs of a successful show. The Chapter was invited to the Bellevue Truss Show to be held in May. Further information is forthcoming. Sonja Nelson was introduced and she presented a slide show on the subject of Landscaping Small Gardens.
A raffle and auction were conducted in the latter part of the meeting |
