The meeting was called to order at 7:45 by Greg Winters, who then issued a $50 Gift Certificate to Barbara Blankenship in appreciation for her past services as President of Pilchuck Chapt. Shirley Rock gave a report on establishing and maintaining a Rhododendron garden at Jennings Park in Marysville. She is working on a program with Don Smart, Dist 2 President, to get it started, and is contacting Mike Robinson of the Marysville Parks Department regarding the steps to follow to receive approval from the Marysville Council. A meeting of the Chapter Board members was held in late October for the purpose of establishing programs and projects for the coming season. The Board proposed making flyers to inform the public of who and what we are. There was also a discussion of our upcoming trip to Oregon and the May Flower show in the Everett Mall. Wayne will make contact with the Mall Management to establish a time and place within the Mall. It was also agreed that plants auctioned during our meetings will not accept any bidding below the purchase price of the plant. It was proposed that we restart putting meeting notices of our chapter in the Home & Garden section of the Everett Herald. The May Flower Show at the Everett Mall is set for the Mother’s Day weekend of May 6th - 8th , under the dome, where we had our display two years ago. Greg encouraged all to sign up for participation in this program since our future activities depend on the success of this show. Bill Heller presented his slide show of two gardens that were visited recently in Ireland. One garden was the very formal garden at Powers Court, and the other at Mount Congrave, which has the largest Rhododendron garden in Europe. A successful raffle and auction completed the evening’s activities.
