The meeting was called to order in the Board Room of the offices of the Marysville School District building by President Greg Winters. Steve Hootman of the RSF presented a slide show with the theme of “selling the multitude of Rhododendron varieties, shapes and colors” to a rather ignorant gardener. Steve’s slides were from his home gardens to the Himalayan Mountains. It was a very informative and always interesting program. Steve is planning to return to the Himalayas in about 5 weeks. Fred Kirby informed us the Everett Mall management would not accept less than a two day flower display, so we will be combing our efforts with the Pilchuck Fuchsia Society. It appears we may have enough volunteers to cover the two days although some of the members will be pulling double shifts to cover for those who find it hard to contribute. We should have between 12 - 16 tables set up. Wayne will have publicity for the show entered in the Everett “Home & Garden” section of the Herald. The bus tour is going on as planned. There are about 20 people from the chapter signed up so far. Deposits to cover bus and motel fare should be turned into the treasurer ASAP. Barbara Blankenship announced the Garden/Nursery Open House, amongst four Oso Garden/Nursery Neighbors on April 30th. Bring good walking shoes and an umbrella for a good time. If you need instructions see Barbara for a map and a schedule. A raffle and auction concluded the activities for the evening. |
