The meeting was called to order by President Barbara Blankenship, who then introduced our new President, Greg Winters. The other officers and board members are listed in the (Pilchuck Pollinator) newsletter. There was a discussion of some of the problems of last year’s Flower Show at the Everett Mall, which was a financial loser. The main problem was the poor location and the interference of various kiosks that separated the truss displays and the sales tables. This situation will hopefully be corrected when we set our 2005 Flower Show date soon after the first of next year. Barbara announced an Open House of four nurseries in the Oso area on the weekend of October 2nd. There will be all sorts of activities besides plant sales during this time. There will be several displays including invitations for visitors to these nurseries to join our Pilchuck Chapter. Fred Kirby spoke on the problem of obtaining speakers for our meetings. There is not only a supposed shortage of available speakers but our Chapter isn’t lining up speakers in a timely fashion. It is suggested we have a list of speakers that goes out at least a year. VP Ellen Moon is in charge of this function but needs the help and ideas of all members. Kathy VanVeen is our planned speaker for our November meeting. It would be good to have 9 speakers on our list at all times. Ellie Sather, from Whitney Gardens was our guest speaker. She presented a slide show of the history of the Whitney gardens and the many changes that have taken place over the years. The meeting continued with a raffle and auction.
