The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM by Greg Winters. There was a report from Shirley Rock regarding our participation in the Northwest Flower Show later this month. A motion was put before the chapter to send $50 to Don Smart, as our contribution for the ARS booth at the Show. The Motion was seconded and approved. A check was issued to Shirley for delivery to Don Smart. There was a discussion of show dates for our Annual Flower Show at the Everett Mall. It was agreed we would attempt to reserve May 12, 13 & 14 (Mother’s Day) for our display. Fred Kirby and Wayne Lawson will contact the “reservations” person at the Mall in the next few days. It appears our spot at the Mall (under the dome) hasn’t changed and is an ideal spot. It was agreed that the prizes for the best displays will remain the same as last year. $50, $40 and $30, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as voted for by the public viewing our show. There was a discussion of the Spring Bus trip to the Grays Harbor area, with a stop at 3 gardens, including Briggs, Alma’s and Hammond’s at Humptulips. We will have a potluck at Hammond’s. It was agreed that Fred Kirby will arrange for the bus to transport us on this trip on Saturday, April 29th. The chapter voted on “Flowers of the Year 2009” in several categories; Elepidote (Dave Hammond 13 votes, Joan Leslie Hammond 1 vote); Lepidote (Multifolium 12votes); Deciduous Azalea (Cannon’s Double 14 votes); and Evergreen Azalea (Elsie Lee 14 votes). Shirley and Jerry Rock presented a slide show on their home garden in Marysville. It was very well done. The meeting concluded with a auction of one plant and drawings for ten plants. This was noted as the end of the surplus plants we had from last year’s flower show.
Respectfully submitted, Marie Lawson—Secratary
