RSF Spring plant sale

President Jerry Rock opened the meeting and introduced our guest speaker, Dennis Bottemiller, of the Rhododendron Species Foundation. Dennis had a slide show and presentation on the subject of propagation and all the ins and outs of being successful in producing new plants. He emphasized the need for taking progress notes for maximum success. Dennis also brought us up to date on the changes at the Species Foundation, including a tropical display house.

There was nothing to report at the time regarding the planned truss display at the Farmers Market on Camano Island next Spring. The organizers haven’t contacted Wayne or Fred at this time.

The Treasurer reported $1140.53 in the checking account and $4913.41 in Bank Certif of Deposit at Frontier Bank.

There was no Meerkerk or District report due to time constraints.

The December meeting will be a joint meeting with the Pilchuck Fuchsia Society and we will have a gift exchange. More information in the upcoming Newsletter.

The meeting finished with a successful raffle and an auction which included some worthy plants from the Jim Barlup collection.

Presidential Musings

I hope you all came through this last storm okay.  We have a lot of broken branches to clean up.  We are thankful that the outcome wasn't worse.

Our Christmas party is slated for this Thursday, Dec. 7th.  The Pilchuck Fuchsia Society will be joining us!  I look forward to seeing you all there.  Be sure to bring a wrapped garden theme gift between $5-$10.  Cake and coffee will be served.  We usually play the swap the gift game, and have a lot of fun.

A bunch of us meet for dinner at the Golden Corral on State Street at 5-5:30pm.  You are all welcome to join us.  The chicken is great...if you can get there before Dave Hammond that is!

In any case have a wonderful holiday season!

Jerry Rock

President, Pilchuck Chapter ARS
