So much fun was had at the last meeting that the secretary forgot to take minutes… Our esteemed Treasurer did provide the following: We had a great Christmas party and gift exchange, with garden goodies as our theme. Dave brought the cake. He purposely had Santa's head blown off and laying at his feet, with red frosting spattered around. Tasty but gruesome. Still no ideas where we're going on the bus next May. There will be a charge because our treasury is low (we do have $5000+ in CD's), but if we need a minimum of 30 signed up we'll have to do some scratching. So at the next meeting we really should decide where we are going and if we need to have members subsidize the trip. __________________________________________________________________ Meerkerk Volunteer Opportunities: ▪ Thursdays: Hands-on-Horticulture Work with other garden enthusiasts, the Whidbey Island American Rhododendron Society, Island County Master Gardeners and the Greenbank Garden Club on projects throughout the Gardens. ▪ 2nd Saturday: Work Party Join us in the Gardens to plan and prepare for each new season. Park in the volunteer's parking lot and meet in the volunteer cottage for hot coffee and tea at 8:45. Embark on projects throughout the Gardens at 9 then return to the cottage at noon for a potluck lunch.
▪ Every Thursday in Spring: Grateful Deadheaders Join the Meerkerk Gardens' Grateful Deadheaders every Thursday morning in April & May, 9am to Noon and receive a hand made tie-dyed T-shirt! Bring your favorite pruners and gloves and team up with us for fun in the Gardens as we deadhead the rhododendrons and beautify the world. (Deadheading rhododendrons is removing the spent blossoms to give energy to new growth and next year's flowers) . |
