Bus Trip

Fun places to see!

The meeting was opened by President Jerry Rock, who first asked for a Treasurer Report. The Treasurer noted that we will probably need to retire a Bank CD in order to fund our upcoming bus trip and for the purchase of plants for the May 10th Plant & Flower show in Mount Vernon. The Treasurer was given permission to retire a CD worth just over $1500 at this time.

The Treasurer also noted that we are no longer able to stay clear of the IRS as we have in the past, reporting only to ARS National. We now have to file a type of ID Card ASAP after the end of our fiscal year. What will develop from there in our requirements by the IRS is unknown at this time.

The designated people of the Chapter have been busy buying plants for the show, and we will now have some two gallon pots available at our booth. The retail prices of our products has not been firmly established at this time, but will definitely be made known to those working the booth on May 10th.

The nominating committee has located two candidates for the office of President and Vice President. Barbara Blankenship and Cheryl Arny have graciously accepted to have their hats thrown into the ring.

Shirley Rock, who also holds the position of ARS National Membership Chairperson for the Northwest, is seeking a volunteer to act as Membership Committee Chairperson for our Chapter. This could be a rewarding position for someone who wishes to coordinate our efforts at increasing our membership in the months to come. Shirley has lost of ideas on how to accomplish this.

Due to unpredictable weather the May 1st picnic/meeting will be held at Fellowship Hall, First Baptist in Marysville at 7PM.  This is a potluck with the chapter providing the fried chicken.  Elections will be held and officers will be installed.  Also more information will given and discussed regarding the bus trip.

May 14th - we are invited to Komo Kulshan's picnic on Camano Island at the gardens of Elaine Isakson at 6pm.  She said we can come earlier if we wish.  The chapter will provide the fried chicken.  If you haven't visited Elaine's gardens you are in store for a real treat!  Directions:  Heading West on Highway 532 to Camano Island, turn right at the 'Y' at Terry's  Corner onto N. Camano Drive.  Follow N. Camano Drive for about 3.3 miles and take a left on James Way (this becomes Rocky Point Hts).  Keep following all the way to the very top of the hill where a sharp left burns into Island View Drive.  452 Island View Dr on your left.  You have arrived!

May 17th-18th - Bus trip to Oregon!  The bus will leave at 7am from the park & ride at 116th (Exit 202) Marysville.  At this time, no one has signed up for the bus needing to be picked up at the 128th (Everett) park & ride.  Be sure to bring your lunch.  We will stop at rest stops along the way.  If you haven't called the hotel with your credit card please do so! The number for the Best Western in Vancouver is 360-256-0707.  Dave Hammond faxed the list of names to the hotel so they will be expecting you.  Get a confirmation number!
