The meeting was called to order by Pres. Jerry Rock, and it was discovered the minutes of the previous meeting got “Spammed” on their way to the Newsletter Editor. The Treasurer do report on the finances of the Chapter. Jerry presented his program on Rhododendron plant identification with many examples of lepidote and elepidote characteristics in the plants. Several visuals were presented to show cell structures and other means of identifying various species. The Chapter is continuing discussion of the ARS Liability Insurance Program we are encouraged by some to get involved in. No action was taken, but there will be further discussion on the matter. Greg Winters reported on the “goings on” at Meerkerk. Many problems with watering are being resolved and there is a new gazebo in the park. The Annual Bus trip will be on May 18-19, with plans for an “overnighter” if possible; maybe in the Portland area. Discovery Garden in Mt Vernon has received a donation of $300 from the Komo Kulshan Chapter for the purchase of plants. It was M/S/P that Pilchuck Chapter donate up to $300 for the same purpose. This will be accomplished by contacting Sonja Nelson for the particulars. The November meeting program will be announced in the next Newsletter The December meeting will be our annual Christmas party The meeting closed with an excellent raffle and plant auction. |
