Pilchuck Pollinator

PILCHUCK CHAPTER - ARS

Meeting Minutes

November 6, 2008

President Barbara Blankenship called the meeting to order in our new meeting place, which is the

Annex Bldg of First Baptist Church, across the street to the South of the church. A big round of

applause for the job Shirley Rock is doing, especially on the “new look” of our Newsletter. Lot’s of

information for us to digest and act upon from issue to issue. The Treasurer’s report was given.

Committee reports: Jerry Rock is in the process of acquiring plants for our annual plant and flower

show in Skagit County next May. There may be some locations changes in Mt Vernon, but nothing

for sure yet.  We have a challenge from ARS to get some kind of door prizes put together for the

Convention next May. We are asked to put together 5 door prizes and one auction item worth

approximately $100.  There was an open discussion on dealing with plant pests (grubs) with various

ideas on ridding our gardens of them.

Greetings to all from Lloyd and Eddie Newcomb, from Lopez

Island, as they sent in their dues for this current season. (Treasurer’s note: Make every effort to get

you dues paid by the November meeting.)

New Business: Cheryl Arney will be demonstrating the making of Swags at our next meeting. If you

wish to participate you are encouraged to bring holly, greens, berries, twigs & cones. You might even consider bringing a glue gun if you wish to participate. We might be able to locate a multiplex outlet

for use on a work table.  Shirley Rock presented a slide show on the many dozens of Fuchsias in her

garden, several of which were made available for the raffle and auction to follow.

Respectfully submitted by

Convention 2009

Just a reminder...keep April 30th thru May 3rd, 2009 reserved on your calendar

so you can participate in the convention held at the Holiday Inn in Everett.  We are

hoping that you will help with the private garden tours.  Private gardens from our

chapter are the Lawson’s, Vaughn’s, Keough’s, Hammond’s, Blankenship’s,  Arney’s, and the Rock’s.

Hosts and drivers will be needed.  Ask Shirley at the next meeting with your

questions.
