PILCHUCK CHAPTER - ARS Meeting Minutes September 4, 2008
The first meeting of the season was held at the new residence of Chuck & Barbara Blankenship,in Trafton. It was pot luck affair, and afterwards our new Chapter President, Barbara Blankenship got the meeting under way. A report from the board members, who meet a few weeks prior, was presented to those in atten- dance and outlined the plans of the chapter for this oncoming season. The ARS Conference will be held in Everett, in May of 2009, and our chapter personnel will be very much involved with plant sales and other activities, including offering some of the members’ gardens for the enjoyment of Conference visitors. The conference will not interfere with our planned Flower Show in Skagit County on the Saturday prior to Mothers Day in May. A lot of planning will have to be done if we’re going to have a field trip this coming year. Costs could be two to three times what they have been in the past. The treasurer’s report was given. The meeting closed with a successful raffle and auction. Marie Lawson - Secretary

The soap water switches this bio gradient in the plant’s favor.
Hydrate plants before the freezes and after two days of thaw. Freeze drying can occur in winter temperatures. Mulch with two to four inches. Avoid direct contact with the stem. The distance from the stem is enough to avoid stem rot and pro- tect roots from the cold and dehydration. Ask me about mulches at the meeting!
November Meeting
