Pilchuck Chapter ARS

Our September meeting will be held at Chuck’s Nursery just outside of Arlington.  Barbara and Chuck Blankenship have invited the Chapter to an open house at the new site of the nursery.   They are located four miles from Arlington on State Route 530 and on the left, just past the Trafton store.

Barb is providing hot dogs, baked beans, chips, and beverages at 6:30pm.  The meeting will commence at 7:30pm under cover.  Bring a friend!

September Horticulture

By Jerry Rock

Clean up and remove any dead branches from your rhodies.  If you planted them this year, you might want to mulch them for the winter.  I quit fertilizing by July so the plants have a chance to harden off before the harsh weather sets in.  Make sure they are hydrated.  If you have questions or comments, please bring them to the September meeting.  I’ll be happy to answer any questions and give you my two cents!

Help Wanted

We are looking for people to chair the following committees:  Bus trip (May 16 or 23 TBD); Plant sale (May 9, 2009).

Committee’s filled:  Membership—Shirley Rock; Greeters—Fred Kirby

Getting to Know You

One way to get to know one another is to share a little background about ourselves, how we got into gardening, and why we became interested in rhododendrons.  If you would like to share this information with the Chapter, let the editor know.

September Birthdays

Happy birthday to Barbara Harris (Sept. 15th)!
